A client sells a fully automated convenience store solution under its own brand, built by us.
The solution brings digital ordering, modern robotics, real-time transaction processing and smart analytics together, all steered centrally from a cloud platform.
It runs in busy places with little staff on site, think motorway services, hotels, universities, hospitals or office campuses. Underneath sits a modular system architecture that bends to individual requirements.
The challenge
Automated store concepts are not born out of a love for innovation. They answer real pressure in the market. In busy places like petrol stations, motorway services or transport hubs, staff are increasingly hard to find. Simple services such as selling snacks, drinks or fresh food barely pay for themselves any more. At the same time people expect a proper digital experience, smooth processes and a consistent brand, whether they use a terminal, an app or reach the system from somewhere else entirely.
The technology base is usually fragmented as well. IoT components, payment systems, robotics, CRM, point of sale and inventory come from very different worlds and were rarely built to talk to each other. Operators are left to orchestrate all of it, react to changing requirements and still keep everything running stably at scale. That is exactly where this solution comes in. It works as one integrated, adaptable platform for modern convenience concepts.
The goal
The goal was a turnkey platform that pulls very different Internet of Things components and digital services into one system you can steer centrally. That includes automated coffee bars, robotic dispensing, sensor-based stock management as well as connected point of sale systems, payment providers and CRM services. All of those pieces had to work together across locations and leave room for more systems later.
A consistent user experience was at the heart of it. It runs through a self-order terminal and a mobile app, the two intuitive ways into the platform. The architecture was designed to be modular, multi-tenant and open to extension. It also slots into existing company landscapes easily, so individual requirements can be covered efficiently and without a dead end later.
The solution
ebiscon built a central integration and control architecture on top of the ebiscon integration platform. That is a modular platform component reaching well past what classic middleware does. The ebiscon integration platform acts as the nervous system of the solution. It not only connects every IoT device and digital service, it also models and drives complex business processes.
Every data flow, event and status message comes together inside the ebiscon integration platform. It reads them in real time, runs the process logic and coordinates the connected subsystems. That covers order processing, driving the robotics or talking to payment systems. This kind of intelligent control keeps operations consistent, stable and scalable across locations.
The integrated components include:
automated coffee bars and robotic dispensing
point of sale systems, payment services and terminal management
CRM modules, telemetry units and monitoring
stock management, refill logic and reporting services
A central piece is the self-order terminal built for this solution, the intuitive way in for end users. The interface follows modern customer experience principles and was validated in extensive A/B tests with pilot clients. The terminal does more than make navigation and ordering easy. It also offers contextual upselling and dynamic pricing, both steered in real time with the help of artificial intelligence, based on stock, time of day or user behaviour.
The terminal talks to the ebiscon integration platform, which runs all logic and integrations in the background. A mobile app was built alongside it, with the same range of functions and usable from anywhere.
The platform is multi-tenant, modular and open to any technology. New locations, services or partners can be added as easily as client-specific requirements. The solution adapts to individual business models and existing system landscapes. That lets our client ship a convenience store platform that scales and holds up over time.
The result
Our client now runs a scalable, multi-tenant platform that ties very different automated retail formats and digital services together. All of it sits in one system that can be steered centrally.
The ebiscon integration platform, the self-order terminal and a mobile app form the technical foundation. Our client sells it successfully as a turnkey white-label product to business customers. The ebiscon integration platform orchestrates every connected system and process efficiently, no matter the location, vendor or technical setup.
Thanks to the modular architecture, new functions, devices or external systems can be connected flexibly and without painting anyone into a corner. The self-order terminal stands out with an excellent user experience, validated by A/B tests in the field. Built-in AI driven upselling and pricing logic adds value for operators and end customers alike.
The solution leads on technology and is built through and through for scale and customer value. It is a platform modern convenience concepts can rely on.
