About us

ebiscon is a software development and IT consulting company with offices in Cologne and Athens. We analyse our customers’ business processes and develop tailor-made digital solutions for them: web and mobile applications, cloud services on Microsoft Azure, e-commerce solutions with Shopware and Salesforce solutions.

Most of our customers are mid-size companies in Germany, from industries such as e-commerce, retail, laboratory supply and e-mobility. We support them from the first idea through development to ongoing operation, and often work with them for many years. In addition, we develop our own software platform for the e-mobility market.

Your role

As Lead Software Engineer, you are responsible for several customer projects that are assigned to you. For these projects, you are the technical lead: you plan the architecture, take part in grooming and planning, and make sure the project team delivers what has been committed, reliably and in the expected quality.

Your leadership is project-based, not disciplinary. You do not manage people, but you make sure that every developer in your projects has clear responsibility for their topics and actually lives up to it. At the same time, you stay hands-on: you actively contribute to your projects and carry project responsibility yourself.

You report on the status of your projects to the management, to our project managers and to our customers: openly, early and including the things that do not go to plan.

Our solutions span backend, web, mobile apps and e-commerce shops. Your core is the backend: .NET, databases and infrastructure. At the same time, you understand how the client side works across web, mobile and shop well enough to make architecture decisions for the whole solution and to support the team on every platform.

We work AI-first. Most of our code is no longer written by hand but generated with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, based on clear specifications and verified before it goes live. You define how we do this in your projects: what gets specified, how generated code is reviewed and what does not get merged.

Your responsibilities

Project leadership

  • Take technical lead responsibility for the projects assigned to you, from planning to delivery and operation
  • Make sure every developer in your projects has clear ownership of their topics and follows through on it
  • Ensure that the right people are available for your projects and that commitments are kept
  • Identify risks and bottlenecks early and address them before they become a problem

Architecture and planning

  • Plan and own the architecture of your projects across backend and client: how backend, web, mobile apps and shop systems work together
  • Play a central role in grooming and planning: break down requirements, estimate effort and challenge requirements when they do not make sense
  • Understand our customers’ business processes and translate them into sound technical solutions
  • Define and enforce engineering standards in your projects: code reviews, definition of done, testing, CI/CD and secure development

Hands-on work

  • Actively contribute to your projects, with a focus on backend services, databases, cloud infrastructure and deployment
  • Shape how your project teams work with AI coding agents (specification, verification and review), so that speed never comes at the cost of quality or security
  • Review code and coach your colleagues, so the team gets better over time

Reporting and communication

  • Report project status, risks and decisions to the management, project managers and customers
  • Present technical solutions and results to customers and explain trade-offs in a way non-technical people understand
  • Prepare technical options with their consequences as input for management decisions

Your profile

  • At least 7 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend development in C# / .NET (ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core)
  • Proven experience as a technical lead, tech lead or architect in projects with real customers
  • Full-stack understanding: you know how web front-ends, mobile apps (iOS / Android) and e-commerce shops are built and how they interact with the backend, deep enough to make architecture decisions and to support the team, without having to be a specialist in every area
  • Experience in building and operating production systems, and in being accountable when they break
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding agents (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) as your primary way of developing, and a clear view of where not to trust them
  • Experience in leading project teams without disciplinary authority, and in making sure others take responsibility for their work
  • Experience in planning projects: estimating, prioritising and keeping commitments
  • You take ownership: you drive topics independently, stand behind your decisions and report openly when something goes wrong
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture, relational databases (PostgreSQL or SQL Server), REST APIs and system integration
  • Solid experience with cloud infrastructure (ideally Microsoft Azure), Docker, CI/CD and automated testing
  • Ability to explain technical topics clearly to customers and management
  • Clear written communication, as much of our coordination is asynchronous across two countries
  • Fluent English, German is a plus

Nice to have

  • Experience with B2B e-commerce, wholesale or order management processes
  • Hands-on experience with a modern front-end framework or native / cross-platform mobile development
  • Shopware or Salesforce integrations
  • Infrastructure as code and monitoring / observability
  • Experience in an IT services or agency environment
  • Experience with ISO 27001 or secure development standards
  • Azure certifications

Working model

  • Hybrid work in Athens
  • Agreed core hours for team and customer meetings
  • Occasional travel to Cologne, e.g. for project kick-offs

What we offer

  • A key role with responsibility for several customer projects and real influence on how we build software
  • The mandate to set technical standards in your projects, and the backing of the management to hold them
  • Direct contact with the management and short decision paths
  • Flexible working hours
  • Monthly meal vouchers
  • Annual learning budget for training, certifications and AI tools
